Liverpool's Spanish midfielder, Pedro Chirivella, has signed a new contract with the club.
The player who turns 19 in May has played for Liverpool four times this season, 3 times in the FA Cup and one appearance in the Europa League - his debut against Bordeaux in September. He started for the reds against West Ham in the FA Cup.
Chirivella joined the Academy from Valencia three years ago.
Speaking to the official site he said:
“It feels really good. I have worked really hard in the last year. I’m very proud to sign a new contract with one of the best teams in Europe.
“When Liverpool wanted me to sign here, I had no doubt about it. But when I came here, I needed to perform really well because the club trusted me and I had to give them a reason why.
“With pressure and [being] away from family, there are a lot of things that make it difficult, but now I’m pleased to be doing really well here.”
Klopp has previously expressed his wish to keep more younger players at the club so a summer loan deal for the player not be a high priority.
It looks likely that the youngsters will see more opportunities in next season's cup tournaments.
