Reports: Liverpool want £20M for surplus Sakho

Liverpool want £20M for unwanted French central defender Mamadou Sakho according to a 'source', says ESPN.

The player who turns 27 next month has not played for the reds since undergoing investigation back in April for an anti-doping offence.  He missed the Europa League final after the reds decided to voluntarily leave him out of the side but ultimately UEFA did not charge him with any offence - dismissing the case in July after the player had also missed being included in the World Cup squad.

The reds paid £18M for him at the end of the Summer 2013 transfer window.

He signed a contract extension in September 2015 that was expected to run until 2020, but his Liverpool career fell apart at the seams just 8 months later.

During the reds preseason tour of the United States last summer, Jurgen Klopp sent the player home although the club at the time insisted this was made for him to continue recovery from an injury.

He has not played for the first team or been named in a matchday squad this season and Klopp recently admitted his future lay elsewhere.
